I however,do my best to be a real contribute to the team,i dish out alot of damage and i take along blinding powder and shroud of distress, wich keep the enemies off long enough to use shadow refuge,at wich point im fine enough to keep alive until the team comes and kills the guy attacking me.
Its not very hard proving im worth it,the thing it GETTING a group, and im sick of the stereotype myself.
I realy hope folks will see the value of assasin one day and it will be the wammo getting booted, not me.

People like to have a tank, so even if that tank is a W/Mo, they are still preferred than an Assassin.
I had to laugh when my group asked me (A/Mo) to tank. I actually said, "lol. Assassins are not supposed to tank, but I'll try". Sometimes ignorance is bliss. We were 2 rangers, 1 elementalist, 1 necros, 2 monks, me, and empty slot. I laughed when we couldn't find a single warrior to pick up. Thankfully we did find a warrior and we went off killing everything in THK.
It doesn't matter how much damage you do, if you can't survive, you are almost useless. I found out the hard way when in Hell's Precipice a group of fire imps toasted me from 2% morale bonus down to -60% dp. The imps were faster than me at killing (teleport to Imp, got slammed with Mark of Rodgort, Inferno and normal attack all at once). All I saw was my animation went from raising my daggers to attack, to a charcoled corpse on the ground (with some nice flaming inbetween animation).
But at least in Tyria, those who know about Assassins know only the good things about us. They are happy to accept us.

As far as the afflicted in Cantha, sure they can be a bit of a nuisance when they die, but imo that's about it really. I find if I kill one the damage done to me is usually healed up by my healer henchman in no time. If not I'll just zip out and use my self heal.

Haven't gotten my sin far enough to try AoD myself, but Flashing Blades is easy, I got to the guy and killed him just taking 4 henchies. I was also farming for his daggers that work very well with flashing blades.
